Who we are

Oli the Owl Books makes interactive digital picture books for families — spin the globe, pick a city, and read. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you use the site and what we do with it.

What we collect

Newsletter. If you sign up for new-book updates, we collect your email address and store it in our Supabase database. We use it only to send you those updates.

Accounts. If you create a profile, we collect your account email address and sign-in credentials. Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth, whether you use a magic link, Google, Apple, or a password. We also keep a record of which books your account owns, so your library follows you between devices.

On-device data. Some information — your settings, your reading position, and whether you have seen the newsletter prompt — is kept in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and never leaves it.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the site is used. It is cookieless and aggregated: it counts things like page views without storing personal identifiers and without tracking you across other sites.

Payments

When book purchases launch, payment will be processed by a dedicated payment provider. Your card details will go directly to that provider and will never reach our servers. The only thing we store is which books your account owns.

Children

The site is made for families to enjoy together, but accounts and the newsletter are intended for grown-ups. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Sharing

We share data only with the service providers that run the site: Supabase (authentication and database) and Vercel (hosting and analytics). They process data on our behalf and for no other purpose. We never sell your data, and we never share it with advertisers.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send. You can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and revise the effective date at the top. Meaningful changes will be flagged on the site.
